Published on: 10 December 2024

On 1 December 2024, the Uzbekistan Foreign Minister, Bakhtiar Saidov, announced that an agreement for mutual visa exemption between citizens of Uzbekistan and the People’s Republic of China had been signed.

A representative of the Uzbek government stated, “This is another step toward enhancing exchanges, facilitating trade, and strengthening ties between the peoples of our countries.”

Since March 2021, citizens of Uzbekistan have been able to visit China visa-free for up to 10 days. The new mutual visa exemption agreement is set to enable Uzbek citizens to visit the country for up to 30 days without a visa.

The signed agreement will only come into effect once both countries have made the necessary domestic policy changes to implement visa-free travel. Travelers between Uzbekistan and China should continue to apply for the relevant visa until a launch date is announced.
