On Sunday, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced that the UAE government would add categories to the country’s golden visa program. As a result, UAE-based physicians, engineers in biotechnology, computing, electricity, electronic, and programming are now also eligible for a 10-year golden visa.
In an update to the 2019 long-term residence visa program, the UAE government has added categories, thus making five and 10-year visas available to new groups of graduates and professionals. On Twitter, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid outlined the newly eligible groups:
“Today, we approved granting the 10-year Golden Visa to all PhD holders in the UAE. Also, the Golden Visa will be granted to top graduates from UAE-accredited universities with a GPA of 3.8 and above.”
“UAE Golden Visa will also include UAE-based physicians as well as engineers in the fields of computer science, electronics, programming, electricity and biotechnology.”
“Other categories granted UAE Golden Residency are specialists in AI, big data, virology, epidemiology & UAE’s high school top graduates and their families. We are keen to embrace talent that drives future development and this is only the beginning.”
UAE Golden Visas – Making It Easy for Investors to Settle
To enable graduates and professionals to reside in the United Arab Emirates, the government put in place a Golden Visa system in 2019, thus doing away with the need for a national sponsor. Since then, applicants can secure five and 10-year visas.
10-year visas are available to investors as well as persons with specific talents as long as they meet all the criteria. Five-year residency permits are also obtainable by investors alongside entrepreneurs and outstanding students.
People exploring the option of residing in the UAE can check the government website for eligibility criteria. Moreover, relevant documents are available to download with a step-by-step guide, also a useful tool.
With the extension of the golden visa card, the UAE government intends to attract the world’s brightest talents by making residency easy to gain and maintain. The new criteria point to the need for talent in technology and medicine on the backdrop of a changing world and a global pandemic.
