The UK government has introduced a visit visa requirement on nationals of Trinidad and Tobago that will be effective immediately, according to a statement of changes to Immigration Rules published on March 12, 2025.
Nationals of Trinidad and Tobago will also require a Direct Airside Transit Visa if they’re transiting through the UK. Individuals who have an electronic travel authorization (ETA) and have confirmed travel before the deadline of 15:00 GMT on March 12, 2025, can still enter the UK without a visa no later than April 23, 2025.
This policy has been implemented due to an increase in Trinidad and Tobago nationals traveling to the UK for purposes other than those permitted under the visitor rules. Another reason for this move is the sharp rise in asylum claims, which has added significant pressure to border operations.
