On 14 January 2025, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Immigration Department announced upcoming changes to the Saudi visa-on-arrival scheme for Hong Kong citizens.
Hong Kong SAR passport holders will now be able to apply for a tourist visa upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, rather than applying before their travels. There will be six designated control points in Saudi Arabia where eligible passport holders can apply for a single-entry visa for up to 30 days or a multiple-entry visa for up to 90 days.
For travelers who prefer to arrange their travel documents in advance, the eVisa for travel to Saudi Arabia will still be available to apply for online.
Simultaneously, the Immigration Department announced that citizens of Saudi Arabia traveling to Hong Kong can now enjoy an extended visa-free period of 90 days.
These changes, which are set to boost tourism as well as economic and cultural ties between Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia, will come into effect from 15 January 2025 and make travel more convenient for citizens of both countries.
