Kazakhstan has rolled out three new visa categories to attract skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and remote workers, according to the latest press release by the Kazakh government on February 7, 2025.
This latest move by Kazakhstan further strengthens its position as a hub for global talent and innovation.
The Neo Nomad Visa (B12-1), Digital Nomad Visa (B9-1), and Visa for Permanent Residence (B9) provide opportunities for foreigners seeking long-term opportunities in Kazakhstan, be it to advance their career, grow their business, or do remote work.
The Neo Nomad Visa (B12-1) has been tailored for professionals and digital entrepreneurs who want to live and work remotely in the country while continuing to receive their foreign income. This visa allows for multiple entries into the country and is valid for up to one year. Visa holders who wish to extend their stay in Kazakhstan may do so for up to an additional year.
Family members and dependents of Neo Nomad Visa holders can also obtain a visa for the same duration, but will face restrictions in terms of work and religious activities. Kazakhstan’s modern infrastructure, low cost of living, and thriving business environment present a prime opportunity for remote workers looking for a base in Central Asia.
The Digital Nomad Visa (B9-1) has been designed to attract in-demand IT professionals to relocate to Kazakhstan and become permanent residents. This visa is a single-entry electronic visa and is valid for up to one year. Subsequently, visa holders may obtain a multiple-entry paper visa with a validity period of one year.
The Digital Nomad Visa enables professionals to reside in Kazakhstan while they apply for permanent residency. To qualify for this visa, applicants need to have a petition from Astana Hub or an authorized body in Kazakhstan’s IT sector.
The Visa for Permanent Residence (B9) provides a long-term opportunity for skilled foreign professionals in fields such as medicine, science, innovation, education, and the creative industries. The Kazakh diplomatic missions issue single and multiple-entry visas, both of which are valid for up to 90 days.
After professionals obtain a single or multiple-entry visa and enter Kazakhstan, they can transition to permanent residency.
